We are excited to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between leadership of Critigen and YouthMappers. Critigen is a small geospatial company that uses mapping technology in support of sustainable social and economic development around the world serving federal governments, local municipalities, international NGOs, and international donor organizations. YouthMappers is a growing network composed of student led chapters from over 200 campuses in 51 countries who create and apply open geospatial data to humanitarian and development challenges across the world.
Building on each organization’s active participation in the OpenStreetMap (OSM) community Critigen and YouthMappers have agreed to a shared common vision to communicate, coordinate, and cooperate to enhance the use and creation of open geospatial data and technology. Based on the shared interest this MoU will cross promote and highlight success stories on open mapping projects, identify new partnership opportunities, and look for projects to encourage YouthMappers chapters to work directly with local municipalities to adopt and use open source data and tools.
In addition, Critigen will serve as a Technical Advisor on the YouthMappers Steering Committee and continue to identify projects and professional opportunities to equip YouthMappers students with the skills and experience needed to enter the geospatial workforce.
